2024 Conference

More wins, less effort

Overview
The 2024 APMP ANZ Conference was held in Brisbane on 28-30 May and attended by approximately 170 delegates. A fabulous three days conference covering a lot of activities such as certification training, keynote speakers, panel discussions, round table updates, masterclasses, sponsor presentations, dinner, dancing and awards. List of attendees included members from outside Australia and New Zealand. Thanks to our members for the massive effort to travel from locations including USA, India and Hong Kong. The essence of the conference summarised into one clear message “More wins, less effort – with better bid response”

Key Note Speakers
Over the jam-packed 3 days, we experienced insightful discussions and engaging presentations on various topics important to bidding such as understanding the procurement perspective, using data and understanding emerging forces to increase bid success, AI and bid management, and reflecting on great leadership to create more positive bid team dynamics.

Conference Survey and Poll
We are pleased to present the findings of the onsite survey and poll results, that were carried out at the APMP ANZ 2024 Bid Winning Conference in May 2024. Delegates were encouraged to complete a short survey to understand their overall conference experience and any expressions of interest for committee vacancies and the mentoring program.

Onsite survey – we received 43 out of 169 possible responses indicating a 25.4% response rate. The survey focused on all elements of the conference and delegate’s feedback, and will inform how we shape our future conferences.

Poll result – we received 77 out of 169 possible responses indicating a 45.6% response rate. The poll was focused on where delegates would like the next conference to take place.

Networking and Gala Dinner
ANZ Conference offered valuable networking opportunities and a splendid gala dinner and celebration of our APMP ANZ Award winners. The best part of the conference was forging virtual relationships into something real, making new friends and catching up with like-minded professionals. Reconnecting & catching up with past collaborators, mentors, and meeting new faces was truly special.

Conclusion
With the conclusion of the APMP ANZ Conference, we want to take a moment to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants, speakers, sponsors, and organisers for making this event a resounding success.

We hope that you found the conference informative, inspiring, and enriching, and that you’ve forged new connections and acquired valuable insights to take back to your respective endeavors. Once again, thank you to all who made this event possible. Your passion, expertise, and dedication are what make the APMP ANZ Conference such a vibrant and dynamic gathering.

2022 Conference

Reconnect to grow

Overview:

The 2022 APMP ANZ Conference was held in Sydney on 7-8 September and attended by approximately 170 delegates. “Reconnect to Grow” was born out of the need to bring together our members (and extended bid and proposal “tribe” post lockdown(s) to reconnect motivate and inspire.

Key Note Speakers:

Over two jam packed days we delivered a mix of key-note speakers covering global, industry and procurement trends, with more fast-paced format presenters (“Ted Talks” style) discussing sales-cycle information in fun and interesting ways.

Networking and Gala Dinner:

Our full Agenda meant networking occurred in the breaks and during the gala dinner. The gala dinner was a stand-up cocktail event that was held off-site at a gorgeous five-star venue with great entertainment.

Feedback:

Feedback from our delegates was positive as validated by an extraordinary number of testimonials, such as:

  • “Great to be amongst like-minded people.”

  • “Empowering and interesting. Gaining new perspectives and learning so much about the industry.”

  • “I enjoyed the two days and found the content beneficial to my own personal development.”

  • “Great conference, full of intelligent and well-articulated ideas and concepts about tendering and proposals.”

  • “Two days of motivating content, we are heading back to our organisation energised and armed to improve. Thanks!”

  • “A great conference. I learnt a lot! Really liked the practical tips and questions and cheat sheet.”

  • “Extremely well and professionally organised, great speakers and presenters, well balanced flow of agenda items and breaks. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my first APMP conference and am looking forward to the next one.”

Conclusion:

The 2022 APMP ANZ Conference was a great success. It provided delegates with the opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, learn new skills and network with other members of the bid and proposal community. We highly recommend attending the next APMP Conference.

2019 Conference

Make an impact

In 2019, 170 proposal professionals from Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and the Middle East gathered in Melbourne to celebrate the industry and explore how each of us could make a difference. The conference delivered world-class insights from international speakers alongside fantastic local expertise, leaving delegates inspired and energised.

A standout moment was APMP Global CEO Rick Harris making the long journey from Washington DC to see firsthand why the ANZ conference is so highly regarded. Mike Parkinson’s keynote reinforced the power of a well-crafted infographic, while Tom Sant challenged attendees to rethink value propositions. Kat Barter encouraged a refocus on priorities to beat burnout, and Kelly Richmond’s use of Mr Men and Little Miss characters provided a fresh perspective on bid team behaviours.

Laughter and learning went hand in hand, with the inaugural APMP game show, hosted by Rick Harris, adding a fun new element. But what truly stood out was the vibe—as famously referenced in The Castle. The energy in the room was palpable, with conversations flowing about fresh ideas and new connections. This excitement carried into the gala event, where delegates posed with scuba divers and endured a wave of fish puns from MC Felix Becker. It was a conference to remember—full of insights, camaraderie, and a shared passion for the profession.
